Regionalism
Foster and support regional conversations about efficiencies in working regionally to address public safety, public health, transportation, land use, education and economic development. Partner with public and private organizations to address regional issues. Meet with Municipal Authorities: Airport, EMTA, Convention Center, Housing, Parking, Port, Redevelopment, Sewer and Water to consider possible paths towards an Erie Metro Government.
Partnerships are Essential
Partner with Local, State and National Governmental Entities and hold regular meetings with community organizations such as Erie Together and the Labor Roundtable. Work collaboratively, in a Bi-Partisan manner on the PA State Budget, and, reach out to regional and national Mayors to bring a positive Erie presence the national scene.
Erie is not an island
The next mayor of Erie must work closely with other city leaders and all northwestern Pennsylvania leaders in Erie and Crawford County municipalities to embrace a collective strategy utilizing the Emerge 2040 and the Buki plans. In addition, I would reach out locally to city workers, residents and New Americans, across the state to other leaders, and around the world to utilize their skill-sets and ideas to move this city forward.
As mayor, I would reach out to the leadership of Cleveland, Buffalo and Pittsburgh and other Great Lake cities to bring Erie into a stronger relationship with these larger and more progressive communities. Lastly, I would encourage a stronger cultural, educational and economic relationship with our four sister cities in Ireland, Scotland, Poland and China. By bringing the wider world to Erie, Erie will become a more welcoming and vital community.
