The MADE IN ERIE PRODUCT DESIGN LAB will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9:30am to 3:00pm; press release below. Free and open to the public, all teachers, teens, retirees, college students, New Americans, the unemployed and others should consider attending all or part of this day-long event at the Blasco Library.
Erie’s product ideas will be stronger - and more commercially successful - as awareness of the value-added nature of industrial / product design excellence becomes better understood. Erie’s economy will benefit as as locally-held patents bring more well-designed products to market: in the 19th century it was Griswold Pans, the 20th century featured Marx Toys and the 21st century includes ReCap Mason Jars by Karen Rzepecki.
Like the INNOVATION ERIE product-design competition organized eight years ago, the MADE IN ERIE PRODUCT DESIGN LAB was initiated in 2015 by CIVITAS and other stakeholders to leverage the potential of Erie's manufacturing infrastructure.
